Buy a little and Give a lot

I love a gift that gives a little more to people in need. Counting my blessings everyday leaves me wanting to give back more. The National Wildlife Foundation has a wide varities of gifts that all go towards a greater cause.

Every ornament purchased is a tree planted. Isn’t that a rad idea? This would be great for a company to give instead of coffee gift cards ( I can’t believe I said that!) For the little ones you can ‘adopt’ a baby wild animal and receive a plush toy along with some fun facts on their new friend.

 

Wreaths: Do It Yourself

What isn’t better than sitting down with a cup of hot coco (or a hot toddy), your glue gun and some festive accessories? But what to make you ask – why not a holiday wreath for your front door? It’s a perfect compromise for those who lives with Grinches ( i  kid! ) who refuse get a tree until it’s mid December. Here is a roundup of some unique DIY wreaths.

One:  Found this fresh wreath of moss, ivy and eucalyptus over on Country Living- the designer Minna Merchke Schmit has an amazing blog is filled with amazing images and lots of wreath ideas. Check her out.

Two: Snow covered pinecones is a great DIY route for a rustic look. Sprinkle the cones with glitter or faux snow to match your theme. Any craft store now is selling them by the bag.  A keeper for years to come. If you don’t want to make one head over to Heart of Heaven to order one before the holiday rush!

Three: Button, button- whose got the button? This idea is a great project for young and old alike. Some cardboard, glue and your collection of mitch match buttons and you have an all around unique wreath. Check out Craftapalooza for a template and details.

Another great idea is a white cloth pillow wreath with hand prints of the little ones. Our family made one for our grandma back in 1990. She still pulls it out every year. It’s so fun to see our little hands.
